Day 1 in Paris

Its been a very long day in Paris, on and off Met trains and very warm this afternoon

The apartment we have for the next few days is very nice, I just need to remember not to stand up in the morning as Catherine and I are in one of the upper level rooms with a four foot ceiling. The steps are not to attempted wearing socks or under the influence.

We had few interesting events today...Jill lost her luggage ticket to reclaim her baggage at the railway station we left our packs at, the attendant charged her 20EU, he didn't worry about getting her to fill in the paperwork with her passport number etc. 20EU went straight into his pocket. Perhaps he will do the paperwork himself.

Catherine and I just returned from the Police Station, one of her locks wouldn't open. They produced a couple of VERY large bolt cutters to remove the problem lock. One of her locks failed before we left home, and mine is being a bit unreliable...they were all brand new.

Another disaster is going on now...but would be best I don't write about it. Not yet anyway.

We bought rolls and pastries and had lunch sitting on the grass with a great view of the Eiffel Tower. Amazing blue & clear sky, best of all, no huge rugby ball in the center of the tower like last time. A great photo opportunity missed, you should have come Boyd.

  3. Hi Mark. Hopefully that ladder is not squeaky like the one in the hostel of 2007. Did you pack an extension cord to save you climbing up & down all night? Have a great trip!

  4. Hi Spiro.

We have a couple of powerpoints at the top of the ladder, its not the problem it was last time.
