We are on now on our first train trip from Paris to Rennes (although the Wi-Fi on the train won’t let us in); change trains then continue to Beauvoir. As the national strike is still ongoing we don’t know yet if the Rennes to Beauvoir train is running, we are staying in a B&B for two nights. Scroll down further and you find the link to our destination. We have been very lucky so far with the strike, with only minimal disruption.
During the last couple of days we have had lunch on the Eiffel Tower, lots of walking, Sacre Coure, more walking, Arc De Triumph (we took the lift this time and walked down, and walked around Monmarte at a slower pace this time so we could take some photos as we were rushed through last time by the American guide we had.
Catherine and I took some photos last night of the Eiffel Tower, and then went to dinner at a Café near our apartment. The Café was almost empty, but it was only about 9pm and the French don’t go out until about 10pm or later.
Boyd’s statue girlfriend was not in Monmarte this time. Although there was a ‘bronze’ man who was even better.
Rollerblading is very popular in Paris, even the Police patrol on blades. One policeman we were talking to said the they have been using ‘blades since 1998. When we arrived in Paris and on the way to our apartment, there was one rollerblader zipping in and out of the traffic with his shoes in his hand.
There doesn’t seem to be as many police around this time or the constant wailing of Sirens, although last time we were here 3 years ago the world cup was on.
UPDATE: The train from Rennes has been cancelled and we have a 2hr delay while we wait for a bus.
UPDATE 2: 6:30pm arrived at the B&B, 500m walk along the main road with no footpath.
Tomorrow we visit Mont Saint Michel
