Slight change of plans

Got a bus to Pontorson railway station, 3hrs to wait for a train.

Waited 3 hours for a train that didn’t arrive. Caught the same bus back to Mont Saint Michel. Then onto another bus to Rennes, although we can’t get a train or a bus from Rennes we will have to find accommodation and hire a car tomorrow (Monday) as nothing will be open today.

We did manage to get a Train from Rennes to Le Mans…not going in the right direction but the best we could do. We had our rail pass although no seat booked of course, although the train was full they let us on anyway, we had to stand but it was only about 90min.

We have just booked into a hotel in LeMans. There will also be a strike in Belgium next week when we are due to travel to Bruges by train. In the morning we are going to try and hire a car to travel to Bayeux and keep it until we get to Bruges in Belgium.

At least, thats the plan...we dont know yet if we can get a car. What a good idea getting an international driving licence was, as we didnt actually plan to use it. Also, buying maps of Europe for the GPS turned out to be another really good idea.

Assuming our new revised plan works out, we will only miss one night in Bayeux, and should still be able to see the D-Day landing area etc tomorrow afternoon, if we can get a car.

Most places have wifi, although sometimes a very weak signal. Not sure how we would manage without the internet.
